Children's Programs

Children are part of the life of our church at every age and stage. We seek through our church school classes to lay a firm foundation of faith for the littlest ones among us. Responding to Jesus admonition to "let the little children come to me", our aim is to guide children toward knowing and loving God right from the start.

Our church school program includes a team of faithful volunteers who teach the children week by week. If you have questions about how to get involved, talk to one of the teachers or Nurture co-chairs, Kathy Cooper and Julia Vaca.

The registration form for church school --ages 3 through High School -- is available to print out, complete and bring before Church School Kick Off Sunday.  Forms will also be available at church.  For returning families on KickOff Sunday, there will be a print-out of last year's registration info that can be checked and updated as necessary. children in godly play class

Godly Play Class

The Godly Play class is for children roughly 3-Kindergarten. During covid we have used an at-home, parent-led model, with lessons designed and emailed to parents based on the Sparks Story Bible. In pre-covid times the class met every Sunday during worship in the downstairs nursery and involved stories, singing, crafts and a snack. For more information about this class, please contact Sally Lockhart or Jill Moles.

children's we believe class

We Believe Class (K through 5th grades)
The We Believe class meets every Sunday during worship and is located downstairs in the Memorial Room. The class is for children grades 1 through 5 and uses the Shine curriculum of the Presbyterian Church.

The We Believe class explores Bible stories in a variety of ways, allowing for the different learning styles that children come with. Beginning with Bible stories, the class learns about Jesus and tries to apply lessons to real life. Although reflecting a "reformed" perspective on scripture and church life, the material is ecumenical and focuses on the core teachings of the Christian faith.

For more information about this class, please contact Kathy Cooper or Julia Vaca.

easter egg hunt

Special Activities
Throughout the year, children of the church are involved in an assortment of special activities.

Easter Egg Hunt – On the Saturday before Easter, parents and children have a chance to dye eggs at the church, followed by a hunt for candy-filled eggs all around the church yard.

Youth Sunday - Occasionally we are led in worship by the children and youth of the church. Each Sunday school class leads a part, including reflections by our graduating high school seniors.

All-Church Picnic - Held at nearby Lippitt Park, the picnic is a relaxed time for families to enjoy a picnic lunch, along with games and activities that are planned for the kids.

Parents Day Out – Held on a Saturday in December, the church provides childcare with games, activities, and lunch while parents get a day to themselves! A great chance to catch up on shopping, do something fun, or take a nap…
