College Fellowship

We joyfully welcome college students into the life of our church. Our hope as a church is that students will find PPC to be a spiritual "home away from home" during the college years. We are located close to many colleges with students who come from Brown, RISD, Rhode Island College (RIC), CCRI, Johnson & Wales, and even URI.

college brunch

We have a College Fellowship group that meets for a variety of activities. On the first Sunday of each month, a college brunch is held and hosted by families from the church. Some tasty food is served up, along with good conversation. Other monthly activities are also arranged for the group. These include game nights, a trip to New York City, and service opportunities.

The student leader for 2011-2012 is Oliver Rosenbloom (oliver_rosenbloom@brown.edu), a sophomore at Brown. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Oliver is an ardent sports fan and history buff.

The Coordinators for the College Fellowship are Matt and Marianne Harrison. Both attended Brown as grad students and Matt is currently a professor in Applied Mathematics (ask him about it some time!). They have two cute little kids and are super excited to get to know the college students better.

Matt and Marianne will be arranging rides to church during the chilly winter months and can be reached with questions or ideas at marianne.harrison@gmail.com or morattico@gmail.com.

Another important feature of the College Fellowship is that we encourage students to get involved with an on-campus ministry group. In particular, we have a great relationship with the Brown Christian Fellowship (BCF) and their staff person Hope Aswell (hopeaswell@brown.edu).

College Hill for Christ (CHC) is another strong group, led by Brodie Herb (Brodie.Herb@uscm.org).

For grad students, the Grad/Med Christian Fellowship at Brown is led by Kathy Cooper (kathycooper@aya.yale.edu) and is a great group to check out!
